The best of 2011

2011 has been a year of ups and downs, but mostly ups. A year in which so much was learnt, new friendships made but most important; a year of unforgettable moments.
The start of the year was amazing, having it spent with my best friend was incredible, turning 20 opened my mind to further ideas and future ambitions. The year in which I completed my first year of university with great grades not only showed me that I have potential but also gave me the exact idea of what I want to do in the future. Some travels where made, where I experienced treasured moments with all those special people in my life. In this post are some photos of all those extraordinary moments of 2011.
Enjoy and Happy New Year!!

Yours truly,
Mickey Boots

Winter Days

Some winter days can be ever so boring especially those in which you dont have any plans. Yesterday was dedicated to a day of watching movies and baking cakes, yes sounds boring but sometimes you just need a lazy day at home. However I did leave the house to go for a coffee in the town nearby.
I decided to wear something comfortable above all, plain but warm. This beautiful fur gilet which I received as a Christmas present was chosen. Faux fur has been a trend through-out the past year and a must have for some. I love it!

Current Obsession: Marc by Marc Jacobs

For us fashionistas, designer wear is crucial, for those which can not afford everything designer, we limit ourselves to accessories and diffusion lines which are much more affordable.
I consider myself to be a "fan" of Marc by Marc Jacobs, I love the collections and this diffusion line by Marc Jacobs is much more affordable as well as excellent quality and stylish. Lately I have bought a few accessories to the brand; a laptop case and a case for my Iphone, which were love at first sight and must buys. I plan on buying much more garments as well as accesories, so keep reading for more of my purchases and let me know what you think.

Marc Jacobs is one of my favourite designers among others such as Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel and many more so keep updated to find out more about my interests and loves.

The laptop case I bought at Selfridges for £55, however later came across the website www.shopbop.com which had the same item for a much more affordable price. Go on there, trust me there are many more diffusion lines by designers such as Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Chloe and many more at very affordable prices! I love it. I later bought the Iphone case on there, a great buy. So make sure to check it out.

What to wear? Where to wear it?

New Years Eve is approaching very fast and I still haven't got a dress nor planned where exactly I am going to be spending it. Decisions, decisions, for sure I will be spending it in London but this year I think I don't want to be going to a club, its so predictable. I want to be able to do something different with amazing friends.  Which is hard because there is so much to choose from however I shall plan it better with the return of my best friend from Sweden. One thing I know for sure is that I will wear an unforgettable dress, however still haven't bought it as of yet but there is time. I already have 3 on my mind which are shown below.
When I think of new years eve outfits, I think extravagant, glamour and elegance. A fashionable lady must wear an unforgettable dress to be recognised in.
Below I have 3 choices, very affordable (not all of us can afford Oscar de la Renta, me included). Let me know what you guys think.

Boxing Day Shopping

Boxing day, a day usually dedicated to laziness for some and hard work for others. For me it was dedicated to shopping with the mother, might as well make the most out of the first day of sales.
Today I wanted to wear something chic however simple but trendy. Of course I decided to dress up warm since its very cold outside; that explains my lovely Topshop cape which is still trendy this season followed with my faux fur scarf to make it stand out a little bit more. The outfit looked quite neutral however the blue jeans added a little colour. Knee high boots were what made the outfit more elegant and in-trend. Finally followed with some jewellery to add more glamour to the outfit and of course my lovely Longchamp handbag.

By the way, have you noticed something different about myself? Yes my hair colour!! I changed it, what do you guys think?? Let me know.
Oh, the photo quality may not be that great, but this time it was my mother photographing me and she's not that experienced in the field, however turned out quite good for a first time, right?

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas

Today was spent with the family watching movies, cooking and much more. Well isn't that what Christmas is all about?! Family! So many people out there take their families for granted, for me I am just grateful to have them here with me, Christmas isn't about presents, presents come and go but family is always there through the good and the bad moments of our lives. Something that people should consider deeply.
I hope everyone had an amazing day filled with happiness. Mine was amazing, I had the people I most love in the world by me and it was sensational along with the food coma that I have now, god how I love all the Christmas food and cakes and snacks, I could go on and on but I'm not going to bore you.
This Christmas I didn't receive that many presents but instead got money therefore will be going shopping through out the next couple of weeks so I promise to post my purchases. I must update my closet before I jet off to Barcelona in February. (Will explain later so make sure to keep reading).
Oh yes, nearly forgot to tell you, the above photo is of the latest member of the family (Gucci Junior) that my dad bought to replace the beautiful Gucci that has died. Okay I know what you guys are thinking, why have we named him the same name, well thats thanks to my parents! I wanted to name him Louie but they wanted to keep the original, oh well at least hes cute, isn't he?

Yours truly,
Mickey Boots

Work on Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is a day dedicated to family time however for me I am working which sucks big time. At times I really hate my job (Cashier at Mango). Today I am working 9 in the morning until 6 in the evening which isn't all that bad but I would rather be with family but life is tough and we have to put up with it.
Currently I am living away from London at my parents for the holiday period, therefore this means travelling up to London for work takes a little longer than usual.
I spend my time on the train reading, currently I am reading Coco Chanel's biography which is really interesting, every time I go to London I actually get excited to catch up on my reading which may sound geekish but I recommend this book to everyone! Seriously, a must read especially for all you fashionistas of the world.
Along with reading comes warm clothes since winter in England in December is extremely cold so it is essential to stock up on warm clothes and accessories. Or trust me you will get sick! No joke, please don't leave the house in a t-shirt and leather jacket because you WILL get sick, trust me I know from personal experience.
Well I guess I'm off to work. Keep on reading.

Electric Blue

Decided to add a little colour to my all-black outfit especially since it was looking a little dull. The blazer added an electric feel that made the outfit come to life. I bought this beautiful blazer from Mango the other day for £79.90. I just couldn't help myself, it was a must buy, had already been thinking about it for days! Yes, I do daydream about clothes, which probably is ridiculous but I can't control it!! But I'm sure 75% of women do it also but just can't admit it to themselves.

Once again I wore my knee high boots with this outfit, I just cant get enough of them. They always seem to make my outfits that little bit more fashionable. I recommend all ladies to have a pair, I have two! A flat pair and a pair of high-heeled knee high boots. They are a MUST for winter!

Added some jewellery also, both necklace and ring are crosses, I have an obsession with them lately, no I'm not religious like some of my work friends claim, I mean I am of course but the use of these items are purely for fashion reasons.
I always feel like I never have enough jewellery, I shouldn't really admit this but every time I go out and get drunk, I always lose a piece of jewellery or break it! Really need to stop doing that since buying new jewellery every week can become a little expensive especially if its the same piece as before.

Xmas dinner outfit

For those of you that know me well, you have probably realised I'm wearing leopard print (again!). Yes I'm officially obsessed! I have so many garments that are leopard print, whenever I'm out shopping with friends and they see something leopard print they would usually automatically say "Micaela, you'll love this!".

So for the Christmas dinner with the girls, I decided to wear something comfortable but trendy also. As you can see I'm wearing knee high boots, which are very trendy this season along with a leopard print shirt which is a print which I believe to be always in trend. Then my comfortable but tight high-waisted shorts which I love, love, love. I admit I look a little simple but I love it, sometimes its better to be simple rather than over the top. And the event isn't formal so I thought this would be the appropriate outfit.

Christmas dinner with my favourite girls

Last night was spent at some of my closest friends' home with almost all of my favourite girls. It was a night dedicated to Christmas since soon we will all be leaving London to go home for Christmas.

It was lovely seeing all the girls and finally spending some quality time with them. As you can see they all look lovely as per usual. We spent the night listening to Christmas songs (cheesy, yes I know, but sometimes it is required) and just chatting away adding some games to make the night even more hilarious.

Food, food and even more food! Yum, should really concentrate on loosing weight but its the holiday period, can't help myself with all the amazing food. Of course there was some alcohol involved also, I mean a party without alcohol, isn't a party, right? Well for me it isn't anyway.

I'm going to admit it, I am going to really miss these lovely ladies, some of them I wont be seeing until next year. "Sad face" But I'm sure we will make 2012 even better than 2011 unless of course the world ends, which I am quite unsure about.

Keep tuned in since my next post will be about my outfit for the Christmas party!

GaGa and Corpse Bride hit the town

After 1 month since Halloween I finally get the photos off my best friend Mikki, better late than never I guess.
Yes, my best friend's name is Mikki, weird much? Maybe, but I think of it as destiny.
So Halloween I decided to dress up as Lady GaGa and Mikki as corpse bride, apart from the fact that the wig that I had purchased didn't actually fit so I had to be a brunette version for the night. I bought the costume off ebay for £28.99 which included the dress, mask and wig. The leather gloves are my own (Mango @ £34.90).

We decided to go to a student event called "F*ck me it's halloween!" in Elephant & Castle - London. It actually ended up being amazing, we danced the night away and enjoyed a party event just the two of us. A last minute decision but totally worth it.

Mikki (Above) looking scary as ever. Going to miss her so much when she jets off to Japan for a semester abroad. "Sad face"

Slight Shoe Addiction

In the past week I have managed to buy myself 2 pairs of shoes and intend on buying another pair this week, seriously what is wrong with me?! I just cant seem to get enough, I truly believe that shoe purchases = happiness, well at least for me.
Being a fashion student can be competitive in the fact that people can compete by what they wear and who is the most fashionable at university. Well this is how I feel at times when I come to uni: am I under dressed? Am I overdressed? Am I trendy? So many questions I ask myself. Therefore I understand the constant need for new product purchases; to keep up with new trends or in my case addiction.

Studded slipper £28 @ Topshop

Platform lace-up ankle boots £60 @ ASOS

I thought it would be a great idea to start posting my purchases on here, maybe I can encourage readers to buy these products, which would be great because I would feel like yes I am going in the right direction and do consider myself to be fashionable and trendy.
